Israel and Palestine 2015: A UN Security Council Resolution for Palestine and for Israel

Since 1948, politicians have been trying to find a formula for both the Israelis and the Palestinians to live in peace and side by side- true story, it is the ultimate goal for international politics: a loose term for world powers.

Since 1948 and until now the Middle East had to go through earthshaking events and hundreds of thousands have to die to convince a population that the Arabs must live in peace with the State of Israel as a regular and genuine country like any other country.

Events and wars took place, leaders rose, some were installed and replaced and were killed and assassinated from both sides, the Arabs and the Israelis, most notably Anwar El-Sadat and Yitzhak Rabin who both changed the planet in the Middle East. Leaders who move mountains usually do not last long.

The Israelis in the State of Israel of course want peace in their majority and the Palestinians too in Gaza and the West Bank; politics though manipulate events and formulas established and theories written and scenarios drawn cannot just be scrapped for emotions and sentiments. If no conflicts exist then politics and diplomacy do not exist; countries create conflicts and then spend years and generations looking for solutions, it is called Diplomacy and it is called politics. It is a must though, things cannot just roll, a price is attached to any change.

The Israeli people cannot live in peace while having an occupied Palestinian population and the Israelis do not want to annex Gaza and the West Bank for demographic reasons. In addition before anyways talking about one country as some naively preach for two people, the Palestinians need to feel what others including Israelis feel and have: a state of their own.

The Palestinians can have a state in Gaza and the West Bank but a real state is the state that has elected leaders, a state that genuinely understands and believes that Palestine is only Gaza and the west Bank with Jerusalem open and shared for both and by both.

The Palestinian people and the Arabs in their respective countries must easily recognize the State of Israel as a Jewish state; why not, the Arabs call themselves Islamic and Arab countries so what is the difference.

The international community including the State of Israel is ready for the Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank to have a state even if the Palestinian politics is in disarray. Accordingly, it does not hurt at this time and it be could be very beneficial for all, for the US to push for a UN Security Council resolution to establish a Palestinian state within the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. However, the Palestinian state in Gaza and the West Bank ultimately will be established through direct negotiations with the State of the Israel. The proposed resolution should also include a section about Israel as a Jewish state.

Act now, why wait, if not now, when...
